Consolidated summary of the OSCE Conference on Tolerance and the Fight Against Racism, Xenophobia and Discrimination

Abstract

Conference recommendations include: enacting legislation that prohibits discrimination; promoting educational programmes for fostering tolerance and combating racism, xenophobia and discrimination; facilitating interfaith and intercultural dialogue; combatting acts of discrimination and violence against Muslims in the OSCE area; preventing discrimination against migrants and raise public awareness of the contribution of migrants; establishing training programmes on the enforcement of legislation relating to hate crimes; promoting tolerance, dialogue, respect and mutual understanding through the Media particularly the Internet; supporting international organization and NGO efforts; making information and statistics on hate crimes available to the public; establishing appropriate bodies to promote tolerance and to combat racism, against Muslims, and anti-Semitism; encourage informal exchanges on best practices and experiences in law enforcement and education.
